Tactical Analysis of the Chelsea vs Arsenal Game

From the highs and lows of the season to the climax of a derby challenge, the game was  meant to be an opportunity  for Arsenal to reduce the gap with the blues at the top, and the blues hoping to get revenge from a 3-nil awakening from the first leg. Much is to be said about both teams formation but one thing of note is the weak bench Arsenal paraded and also the formation setup. Chamberlain and Coquelin in the midfield pivot against the best team currently in England was like giving an advance calculus to a High school fresher that has no interest in solving mathematical equations.
Chamberlain had a good game but playing out of position, limited his proficiencies in areas that mattered most.
Arsenal's limitation in resources was never the issue here, the issue here was a series of look overs in important areas.
Chelsea on the other hand used the strength of their formation and the individual ability of each player in the team to its full potential. Defensively Azpillicueta was made to stick very close to sanchez when ever he roams towards the left looking for possible triangles and off the ball movement passes down the channels. Moses was  kept busy at the back owing to the fact that Arsenal chose to attack down the left flank more. Kante and Matic were decent enough to win more tackles successfully than getting dribbled at first attempt. Pedro and Hazard made more runs in the attack enough to hurt the gunners.
Chelsea's set up was horizontally strong and the band line of midfield and defense was as thick as usual without the ball, denying spaces and also cutting out the gunners attacking prowess through the flank. This horizontal setup ensured  for momentum gathering and forward thrust when needed. But in the first half, that wasn't the case. Arsenal had a collapse in the midfield, and chelsea capitalized with ferocious attacks in the first 20 minutes.
Arsenal's goal scoring chances creation was well matched with chelsea's defensive strength, and chelsea on the other hand created enough chances and threatening ones more than holding on to possession. The moment of magic was Hazard's amazing run through the Arsenal's defense, and leaving Coquelin for dead in the midfield.
Hazard instinct was sharper than a Samurai blade cutting his way, zigzagging his way through barricades even the tallest of walls fell flat in card-like collapse. Closed channels opened at will as he cruised through, making defense defenseless as they waddle to stop the storm in a magic moment ofcourse we all know the history and the aftermath, and how the inevitable happened in an amazing way.

The height of Arsenal's individual Error was Cech gifting Fabregas the third goal. The only blemish on Chelsea's game was the continuous selfish disposition of Diego costa, which cost the blues the only goal conceded from an Arsenal reprisal attack at stoppage time.
The game was not really a spectacular display from Chelsea, it was more of Arsenal's undoing, Choosing to attack Chelsea from the left alone shows how limited the creative asset of the gunners measured up in the game. Also going out against Chelsea without protecting the defense was also a disaster. One would have expected a 433 formation to cope with the midfield, and build a good battling triangle against the blues thereby giving Coquelin less opposition to deal with.
Arsenal failed to show up against their biggest rival in England. It was a game of boys having a bad day against men having a good day.
