Liverpool hero Didi Hamann says Wayne Rooney must start for Manchester United at Anfield on Monday.
Hamann, who played 283 times for the Reds during seven years on Merseyside, believes Jose Mourinho would be making a mistake by leaving the 31-year-old out.
"The question about whether Wayne Rooney starts for Man United is an easy one. He has to play," Hamann told Paddy Power.
"Rooney is a big asset to everyone on the pitch and importantly he has the mentality of a winner.
"Getting dropped will hurt him and he will be champing at the bit to answer his critics."
His opinion matters not.
