Diego Maradona and Juan Sebastien Veron clashed during a friendly match.

They both were involved in a Match for Peace on Wednesday, organised by Pope Francis. But Maradona got seriously involved in an off the ball incident with Veron even though the match was just a friendly one.

The legendary footballer had to be kept away from Veron by security guards. Brazilian legend Cafu also played his part in cooling down Maradona.

‘I don’t f**k you about, I tell you straight to your face idiot,’ Maradona told Veron in the heated exchange.

When the current Estudiantes chairman helped pick Gerardo Martino as Argentina manager between 2014-16, Maradona said: "Veron betrayed me, like he did with [Jose Luis Calderon]. He acts like a big-shot director.

"I don't want anything to do with him nor with his father, I won't go anywhere with him."

Maradona also provided an assist for Francesco Totti. The match was being played in Roma's Olympic Stadium.
