Bayern Munich's Juan Benat Refutes Holger Badstuber's Claim That Pep Guardiola Was Cold Towards Players

Bayern Munich's Juan Benat Refutes Holger Badstuber's Claim That Pep Guardiola Was Cold Towards Players.

Bayern Munich and Spanish left-back Juan Benat has leapt  to the defence of compatriot and former coach Pep Guardiola following the remarks of club-mate Holger Badstuber that the former Bayern Munich coach ignored him (Bastuber) during his time out with injury.

Benat (23) has refuted the claims instead saying not only was Guardiola keeping an eye on him while he was injured, Guardiola's athletics coach Lorenzo Buenaventura was also in constant contact.

"Pep was always interested in how I was when I got injured last season. "

"His athletics coach Lorenzo Buenaventura was keeping a close eye on me but Pep himself was really involved as well. The entire staff," the former Valencia left-back told Munchner Merkur.

Benat did not end there as he had this to say about former Chelsea and Real Madrid Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti who replaced Guardiola this season.

"It is true Ancelotti is really close with his players. He talks to us a lot. You can see he is a great coach, " he concluded.

Guardiola was in charge at the Bavarian club for three years (2013-2016) winning the Bundesliga on all three occasions but failing to make the final of the UEFA Champions League at the time losing to the trio of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
